Upgrade 9.3->10.0 went well, with a few minor glitches
Well, I made it through another upgrade with only minor glitches -- 1) I had to manually clean up grub. I always have to do this. I have no idea what it is about my grub configuration files that is causing this, though these files did get slightly tweaked once upon a time when I restored my system using a 3rd party system recovery tool, so I feel pretty sure that's what caused this problem. I have a plain vanilla setup, 1 hard drive with 2 partitions, a swap and a regular partition. Oh well, I've gotten pretty good at fixing that by now, although there were some additional glitches this time that weren't there when I went from 9.2 to 9.3 2) ODBCConfig no longer works. When I enter that command, I get -- Symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libodbcinstQ.so.1: undefined symbol: inielement I tried reinstalling all of my ODBC related packages and that didn't fix it. The ODBC connection I am using still works, so as long as I don't need to set up another one, I guess I'm fine. If I needed to add another one, I could just go in and manually add it into the configuration files, assuming it's similar to the one I already have set up. Anyone else using this? Do you get this same error? Anyway, all in all, things look pretty good so far. All of the basics (Network, Samba, screensaver, online update, etc.) looking good. I also like the general appearance and am glad to see the users listed on the login screen again so you can just click one and then key in the password. Greg Wallace Greg Wallace
