When firefox is open (at least one window), clicking on mozilla icon opens another window of firefox (mozilla doesn't open itself)! Have others such problem?
haven't run into it myself, but i think i know the cause. the startup scripts for moz suite and firefox do a 'ping' (of sorts) to see if there is already a copy running and open an new window instead of a new instance if there is. this is to prevent profile corruption, i think. the problem is that all of the moz products (suite, firefox, and thunderbird) respond even if the script is being called for a different product. because of this, if you have one running and try to start another, it'll open a new window of whatever is currently running. gentoo has a pretty good launcher script that's used for all of them that looks like it will work well, but haven't actually seen if it fully corrects this as i only have firefox installed on that box. -- trey

this is the case for older versions of mozilla/firefox/thunderbird. I can't remember with which versions it got fixed but for current versions this shouldn't happen. Yes, I have seen this problem. I think the solution is to bring up mozilla prior to bringing up firefox.

I saw the same, using mozilla 1.6 on SuSE 8.2 and Firefox 1.0 downloaded from mozilla.org. To run mozilla, the solution was to execute /opt/mozilla/bin/mozilla.sh instead of /usr/bin/mozilla. BTW, these two files are scripts that appear to be exactly the same. Not quite sure what caused their behaviour to be different. S.H.
