It looks like there is a version of T/Bird now for 15.3:

but I can't get to a place where it will install. Brain fog, I guess. Please help!
(Have rm'd the old T'Bird and with luck it's gone.)
Just STOP right there and don't break your system further.
Now, go back to YaST package manager, and install again Thunderbird the way it was:
cer@Telcontar:~> su - Password: Telcontar:~ # yast2 sw_single & [1] 19586 Telcontar:~ #
Then, click on the search box and enter Thunderbird and install it.
Once you are back to the point you were, follow the instructions I gave you this morning.
Well, I did reinstall T'B, but I can't find the instructions you say you sent this morning. Maybe lost in this horrible mail prog. I've got exactly the same thing(s)--mostly doesn't accept p/w, even tho reinstall asked for new one. Sometimes can't find user-name, even tho it's always been dmcgarrett.
https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/users@lists.opensuse.org/message/IB... I copy the paragraph for you again: +++················ I highly suspect that your problem is not with Thunderbird, but with that stupid mail server / provider of yours. Thunderbird should: - Ask ONCE for the master password once you open the program the first time. - Ask ONCE in life for the password of your mail account the first time it tries to use it. Once for receiving, once for sending. - If the SERVER says the password is wrong, Thunderbird will ask for that server or account password, and will ask a thousand times till you give it right - ie, the server says it is right. You can hit cancel or ESC, probably. - Once the SERVER accepts the password you typed, Thunderbird will save it and never ask for it again in life. Ok, certainly there are easy ways to delete the entire Thunderbird thing, but you don't need to do that. Just create a new mail account for your mail provider. Just give it a different name than the one it has now. Thunderbird can have dozens of accounts defined. ················++-
And if you really want to restart thunderbird from scratch, remember that this is not Windows. You MUST NOT uninstall Thunderbird, but delete your Thunderbird data directory.
I would do that if I knew where it was or what it is called. Or is it already too late for that?
No, it is not late. Just look below, how it is seen in my computer:
cer@Telcontar:~> ls .thunderbird/ Crash Reports Pending Pings Quitados appreg cvimpkkb.Testing dcvgs9m1.default installs.ini profiles.ini zcguwcwo.sequndus cer@Telcontar:~>
Simply delete the directory .thunderbird/, that's all.

no, i have set it somewhere (or it was the default) to not save my password. so once a day i open thunderbird, it will ask me for the password to receife mails. until i close thunderbird it will not ask again. after closing and reopening it asks again. do not ask me where this setting is stored. simoN -- www.becherer.de
