Hello, Trying to rebuild sendmail.cf, but I get this error; # m4 linux.mc > sendmail.cf linux.mc:11: m4: Cannot open ../m4/cf.m4: No such file or directory ... and afterwards the sendmail.cf is empty. That was a nice surprise. How can I fix this? Thank you, -- James

A few comments spring to mind 1. Don't run sendmail unless you *really* know what you're doing. This is why the gods gave us postfix 2. Never overwrite any important files without doing backups 3. Never do anything at all without doing backups 4. Which version of suse are you using? 5. Where did you get the linux.mc? The one I'm looking at in 9.3 doesn't have a relative link to cf.m4, it has a full path to /usr/share/sendmail/m4/cf.m4. Was this something you downloaded from the net? 6. Don't be surprised. Always assume any operation will fail, and prepare for it. This isn't a linux thing, it's a life thing. Expect the worst, then you can only be pleasantly surprised

Using sendmail with MailScanner.

Thanks for the advice, however the original file is backed up.
3. Never do anything at all without doing backups

Suse 9.3
5. Where did you get the linux.mc? The one I'm looking at in 9.3 doesn't have a relative link to cf.m4, it has a full path to /usr/share/sendmail/m4/cf.m4. Was this something you downloaded from the net?
Noticed that the default mc file on suse 9.3 has everything commented out with DNL. I guess I have been spoiled by using Mandrake for so many years. Sendmail is almost ready to go right out of the box. A few mods and away you go. Since I have sendmail running on a Mandrake box I was going to test its config on Suse. That didn't work out as I had hoped for.

Interesting philosophy, although with such a good polish with all the recent Suse builds I had hoped for a little less of a headache to get sendmail up and running. Still, I do want to get sendmail up on this suse box. How can I get this this going fairly quickly? Thank you, -- James
