[apologies if incorrect newsgroup] I have been attempting for some time now to get gaim to work on my SuSE 7.0, KDE 2.2.1, Xfree 4.1, Kernel 2.2.19 and with glib greater than 1.2.3 box. The error indicates that GLIB > 1.2.0 is not installed but YAST says 1.2.8 IS installed. So, the question, does gaim not work on 7.0? Or KDE? Any hints, tips, tricks that I might try. I have been getting more and more risky with trying different things and the last thing I need is another lesson on re-installing! Even if I try to use the gaim rpm's YAST says that it wont install any packages with major number <= 3. Thanks Eric

I agree with David, Gaim works great on my machine as well. Although Gaim will work under KDE, it is somewhat more directed to Gnome interface. My question is, have you installed Gnome as well on your machine. It may very well be looking for something from that GUI that is installed when you install Gnome? end of line Tracer -- ---KMail 1.3.1--- SuSE Linux v7.2--- Registered Linux User #225206 /tracerb@sprintmail.com/ *Magic Page Products* *Team Amiga* http://home.sprintmail.com/~tracerb

Are you saying that attempting to compile the package you get that error message? I guess from configure? Check configure for an option to set the path to the lib.. Try ./configure --help Look for something letting you set the lib location. Other then that I'm not sure what you can try. Nick
