[SLE] Start kppp automatically...
Hi I would like to know if somebody can show me how to configure Linux to automatically start the pppd daemon after I log in, using kppp. Any help would be appreciated... Many thanks. ===== ------------------------------------------------------------Adam Yacob Autodidact Montreal, Canada E.mail: ------------------------------------------------------------ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Been a long time since I did this so I had to dig to find the answer. If you type in a terminal kppp -h it will give you a list of command line options. kppp -- valid command line options: -h : describe command line options -c account_name : connect to account account_name -k : terminate an existing connection -q : quit after end of connection -r rule_file : check syntax of rule_file Knowing those you can write a simple shell script to start kppp. Use the -c option and list the name of your connection after it. For instance to connect to a service you named myISP you would include in your script: kppp -c myISP & I included the & because I think you need that so the script can continue. Like I said it's been a while. Anyway, after you write the script call it from your .xinitrc file and that should log you onto your service when you log in. On a little side note you can also automatically end the connection with one of the other options in a similar fashion. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Darren R.
