SuSE70-kernel-2.2.16 or -2.4.2 - I have ftape installed to use for backups, it works fine if I boot to my 2.2.16 kernel & modules. When I boot to 2.4.2, I get a difference in /var/log/messages, on parport_pc than when booting 2.2.16. excerp from /usr/src/linux/2.2.16/config - parport - paride section. CONFIG_PARPORT=m CONFIG_PARPORT_PC=m CONFIG_PARPORT_OTHER is not set CONFIG_PARIDE_PARPORT=m CONFIG_PARIDE=m CONFIG_PARIDE_BPCK=m 2.2.16 kernel /var/log/messages - ftape works fine with 2.2.16 kernel, and modules for ftape.
