Hi all! Got a 2.4.21-231-smp4G running with VMware Workstation 4.5.1 build-7568 The modules load perfectly and the guest OS i running. BUT it keeps stealing my NIC The host is 192.168.1.3/24 and i have tried different ways of configuring the guest system Everytime the vmnet(x) (where x is 1 and 8) starts it hogs the nic. All traffic to and from host goes down. As soon as i do "ifconfig vmnet(x) down" it releases the nic and all traffic is back to normal. What shall i do to get VMware to understand i want networking on BOTH host AND guest at the same time!!?? I want to be able to use internet , and reach the local network from host. I want to be able to use internet , and reach the local network from guest. -- /Rikard ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rikard Johnels email : rikjoh@norweb.se Web : http://www.rikjoh.com Mob : +46 70 464 99 39 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >

I think you want 'bridged' networking and NOT host-only networking. That's the way I set up VMware here and it does not steal the NIC.
