Hi, I am using SuSE Linux Pro 8.0. I downloaded and installed Netscape 7.1. Installation went fine and the software works except for Java. I have downloaded and installed latest version of java and made link for the plugin. But it does not work. I used the same procedure for Netscape 7.01 and it works but for some reason, it does not work for Netscape 7.1. I will appreciate any help. Thanks Leo

Which version of java? I believe you would need a gcc 3.2 compiled version of java, and I am not sure if it will work since the rest of the system is compiled with 2.9.5. I believe Sun's 1.4.2 is gcc 3.2 compiled. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. My advice, update to a newer SuSE version. 8.1 was gcc 3.2 based, 8.2 and 9.0 gcc 3.3.

To update the whole system would require more work than the cost of buying a newer pro version (your time IS worth something, and that would take a long time)

Well, may be my idea is not good at all But because Nestcape 7.1 is not in spanish I installed Netscape 7.0 and I realize that 7.0 comes with java, and works great and whitout any problem. May be you may try that option. Seamos realistas pidamos lo imposible

Here I have 8.2 and N.. 7.1. I'll describe my java configuration. Under '/opt/netscape7.1/plugins' there is: @libjavaplugin_oji.so --> /usr/lib/SunJava2-1.4.2/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so ~java2 --> /usr/lib/SunJava2-1.4.2/jre But that might not work for you, because of the gcc version issue mentioned. Perhaps you can try '/usr/lib/SunJava2-1.4.2/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so' instead. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
