I'm using gFtp and Suse 10. I upgraded to Suse 10 about 3 months ago. Before that I used Suse 8.1 and IglooFtp. Transfering files with gFtp is very slow compared to IglooFtp. Is that normal? Is there anything I can do to speed up the operation of gFtp? Or, can anyone recommend an ftp client that is faster than gFtp? Thanks, Matt Stamm

konqueror :-) kbear
I avoid kbear like the plague. Every time I've run it, it has taken me a long painful time to get my taskbar back the way I want it. I don't know what it does, but it messes up the placement of the various sections and icons badly. It may be fixed in KDE 3.5, but I'm unwilling to try.

No it's not fixed in 3.5. Kbear should be relegated to unusable status. Apart from screwing up the KDE desktop, it consistently crashes whenever a file transfer is attempted. Hopefully, one day it will be fixed and become the once great app that it was. Dave -- Registered Linux User #288562 http://counter.li.org

I use gFtp on SuSe 10 and it works quite normally here: no faster or slower than anything else. I guess you could delete it and its config files, then reinstall (or download a new rpm from a different source) - in case you have a bad installation/source files. Maybe one of the settings in the Options dialogs has got changed? The only other client I use is Kftpgrabber. This can do encrypted ftp but it seems to be in early days and isn't so reliable as gFtp. :) Fish

Why don't you continue using Igloo? Or did you wipe it, and the key out when you upgraded. I still have mine working on 10.0 Bob S.
