hello list; I have a newish box to me at work. I can install suse 9.2 just fine. but when I try to install SLES 9 it does not see the SATA card. How do I find which driver that 9.2 installs so that I can find the correct one for SLES 9? Thanks, and have a good New Years! Neal http://www.justsuse.com

I don't know if lsmod would show you are not, but you could start there. i.e. compare the output of lsmod on the two different distros, and see what modules are missing. Greg -- Greg Freemyer

I purchase a SATA HD yesterday and have problem with SuSE 9.2, the same system install fine with Mandrake 10.1 (it came with Linux Magazine). To install with SuSE 9.2 I need to install it Installation - Safe Settings mode. My mainboard is ABIT KV7 and the SATA is Seagate Barracuda. Cheers Thadeu
Hello list, i want to install SuSE 9.2 by boot disks on a computer (no DVD drive available) by manual installation (via NFS). I requested to insert the boot disk 6. There is no boot disk 6 on the DVD available. Where i can take this boot disk ? Thank you in advance best regards Wadesch

We had a very similar support case not long ago. This is what our developers replied (internally): --- snip ----- IIRC this message comes up if linuxrc tries to load a module that is not registered to be one one of the other module disks. Most of the time it was sufficient to just ignore the prompt and hit "Enter" ... --- snap ----- Greetings from Stuhr hartmut

That was not a solution for my problem. Acoording to another suggestion I tried all the modules disk to solve the problem. The request to insert bootdisk 6 remained existing. Originally I wanted to install the system with the SuSE mini installation CD-Rom. But the keyboard did not function any longer after selection of the installation menu. This problem repaired itself after a renewed attempt automatically. My problem was solved. Further I am interested at a solution with the installation from bootdisks.
