Re: [SLE] KDE desktop icons still won't stay put

Hmm, maybe run a "chmod -R 777 .kde" and see what happens? Cant think what else it would be other than a permissions problem.
If you create a new user from scratch, does it happen to them?
Yes, eventually. I destroyed my user ID, made sure the home dir was gone, and did find / -uid <my UID>. The only things not valid data files were the stuff that KDE puts in /tmp, which I blew away. Then I recreated the user ID, logged in to KDE, and started setting up. After about half-a-dozen logout/login cycles, the problem appeared again. The only thing I had done between the last good desktop and the disarranged one was to add a couple of application icons to the desktop, nothing strange or unusual. I was logging out and back in after adding every couple of icons to make sure everything was OK. I had the "save session" checkbox selected each time. -- =========================================================== Glenn Holmer (gholmer@ameritech.net) ----------------------------------------------------------- Performing music well is a matter of distorting the score to produce the desired illusion, namely the existence of the score in a pure state. ----------------------------------------------------------- -Shadow, 1975 ===========================================================
