You have a Source RPM (SRPM). IMO, SuSE should stick with the conventional method of naming SRPMs: some_file.src.rpm . A SRPM contains three (3) items: source code (usually compressed gzip or bzip2 format), a SPEC file, and any patch(es). If you install an RPM using the regular method ('-i'), (on a default installation), the SPEC file will be placed in /usr/src/packages/SPECS, the source(s) and patch(es) in /usr/src/packages/SOURCES . _If_ you actually want to compile this SRPM, you can simply issue an 'rpm --rebuild some_file.src.rpm', and if you have the appropriate utils (i.e., gcc, make, etc.) and if the SPEC file is well-written, an binary package (called an RPM) will come out. That can be installed using the regular '-i' or '-Uvh' method. -- Karol Pietrzak PGP KeyID: 3A1446A0
