[opensuse] Amarok in openSUSE 11.2
Is there a way to have mp3 support for Amarok in openSUSE 11.2 ? Packman repo does not seem to provide yet an Amarok version with mp3 support. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Exactly, amarok has nothing to do with the formats it can play as it uses phonon. Phonon uses a backend and if that backend can play mp3, everything that uses phonon can as well. So if one has a look at KDE's systemsettings > sound and finds xine, one has to make sure that the libxine installed can play mp3s. Packman provides such a package which everybody can get via one-click from the link above. For the default Xine backend all you need to do is add the Packman repo and upgrade libxine1. The wiki article seems to be out of date. You can install gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mp3 from packman. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I just installed libgstflump3dec.so to /usr/lib64 that is what gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mp3 does, but Amarok takes to long to change tracks. Someone else with the same problem? Oops, forgot to mention that you will also need to install gstreamer-0_10-plugins-good (for id3demux) as it is not installed by default. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
