[opensuse] OpenSuSE 10.3 repository problems
Hello there, Over the last few days I have encountered a number of issues with many - if not all - of the community repositories for OpenSuSE 10.3. A number of RPM's can not be found in the repository even though Yast lists them - and other items from the same repository I could download just fine which means the repository as a whole was online and available. Anyboyd else experience the same thing? Any idea why that is happening? Any help much appreciated as always. Cheers, Boris. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Carlos,
Thanks for your help, but actually the problem seems to have been
different this time. And this is something all of the SuSE repository
users may want to pay attention to.
What appears to have happened is that repository cache stored locally
on my machine seems to have gone out of sync with the actual content
online. To fix that, I unsubscribed from all of my repositories and
then resubscribed to them. Yes, I know, usually Yast/YUM does it for
you \ but we live in an imperfect world.
So to summarize this experience, it appears a good idea to ditch all
your repository subscriptions and give it a fresh start once in awhile
- saves a lot of headache when you are actually trying to figure out
RPM dependencies, etc.
Boris.

I see. There is a known simpler procedure deleting the zypper database to force a refresh. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. How do you do that?
I think it is "rm /var/cache/zypp/zypp.db". I did a backup first. Make sure there is no zypper process running, first. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
