I realize this is not a sendmail list -- if this is too far off topic, then I shall move my question elsewhere. I am running a web server and use sendmail on the same box simply to allow web forms to send email. We have a seperate machine (windows based) which performs our "real" email service. The web box does not have a MX record in DNS, but I do not think this is a problem. Sendmail starts up just fine, but if I try to send mail using something like: host% mail myaddr@attbi.com Sendmail attempts to deliver but fails and in the mail logs I see Oct 9 11:14:18 www sendmail[1811]: g99IEIx01811: from=djm, size=44, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<200210091814.g99IEIx01811@esd112.org>, relay=djm@localhost Oct 9 11:14:18 www sendmail[1813]: g99IEIx01811: to=myaddr@attbi.com, ctladdr=djm (101/20), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, pri=30044, relay=gateway.attbi.com. [216.148.227.70], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection refused by gateway.attbi.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Dominic

gateway.attbi.com doesn't want to relay your mail for you, probably because the sender domain is not attbi.com (just a guess). You can try sending the mail yourself or pay for a relay service. In the past, attbi.com didn't give ptr records to their client's ips so you might get a lot of mail rejected. -- -ckm
