[opensuse] CUPS long user name and long printer name fails to print
We have a user with a 22 character user name. They can print to all the printers except one. That printer has a an 9 character name. The printer in question is a Ricoh MPC5502 however there is another printer of the same type with a 7 character name which works fine. The user can print to any of the other dozen printers ( with short names ) OK. All the other users can print to all printers OK Recreating the users with a fresh home directory doesn't work but creating a new user with a shorter username works 22 character username + 7 character printer name works 22 character username + 9 character printer name doesn't 16 character username + 9 character printer name work ( 22 char username format = aaaaaaa.bbbbbbbb-ccccc 16 char username format = aaaaaaa.bbbbbbbb ) This is openSUSE 13.1 - The CUPS server runs PaperCut but removing that doesn't make any difference. Both CUPS and PaperCut say the job has been printed but when the users prints anything on this printer the printer wakes up makes whirring noises and goes back to sleep Is there some sort of limit on the combination of user name + printer name Ta M -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
