Hi, I have used SuSE for two years without any problem, but I can't solve with one. I'm trying to used SuSE 6.4 in a local network. The PC client hace their IP adresse configured via DHCP. A Linux server is used for internail mail exchanges. All seems to be working fine, except that there a delay of 35 seconds for each SMTP, POP and Telnet connection. When we add the client name in /etc/host or in the DNS, the delay disapears. But I thnink that this is not an acceptable solution because of DHCP. I heard that this is due to identd, but I don't know how to disable it. In /etc/rc.config, START_IDENTD is set to "no", and no identd process is running. Any idea? Thanks for any help. Hi Philippe.

The server is resolving the name for the ip address trying to connect. You could either add the range of ip addresses DHCP is using to /etc/resolv.conf or disable the name resolution (which I don't know how to do).
I heard that this is due to identd, but I don't know how to disable it. In /etc/rc.config, START_IDENTD is set to "no", and no identd process is running.
Any idea?
Thanks for any help.
Philippe.

Sorry, I meant /etc/hosts
