Hi, what needs to be done to configure Thunderbird to receive the local mail. YaST, MTA, configured out going mail for ISP settings.. then choose Cyrus for IMAP... since its all on the localhost does anything need to be set, or the firewall opened in the Incoming Mail section Used pine to send root an email... This create an email msg in var/mail... Then I'm stuck (probably before I even got this far :)... configured Thunderbird to connect to localhost -- connection refused ? Is there a clear cut FAQ for all this ? -- devosc

Is the closest that I've been able to follow, and Thunderbird now
prompts for authentication using an SSL cert... however authentication
is still failing...
log:
AUTHENTICATE PLAIN failure host=localhost
imaps enabled in xinetd, fetchmail/MTA enabled although no Incoming
(etc/fetchmailrc) servers configured... nothing specified in
YaST/Firewall
I also tried to install, cyrus-imapd but when following the suse
install notes, I was not able to connect to the cyadm server...

-- devosc
seemed pretty easy in the end... enable xinetd/imap and imaps, enable xinetd service, create ssl cert per usr/share/doc/packages/imap then configure Thunderbird to login as system user... -- devosc
