Hi, maybe I will get some help fixing two serious SuSE 9.1 Bugs: 1. Samba is not working - even I am able to browse windows shares, no windows machines is able to see my linux shares - and yes, I have read all the post from this mailing list, and also from couple of suse forums, but by now I have no success 3. How to change the default gnome theme under kde... because I like baghira, and the default gtk theme look horrible combined with baghira My system is: Athlon XP 2000 + MB Gigabyte Nforce 2 ultra 400 - N400 L GForce FX 5700 graphic card Sound Blaster Audigy TV Card - Leadtek TV 2000 XP Deluxe - with correct sound cable attached to the sound card HDD 120 GB Maxtor In the hope that I will receive a useful answer Tanks ! PS - Sorry for my english
2. Samba is not working - even I am able to browse windows shares, no windows machines is able to see my linux shares - and yes, I have read all the post from this mailing list, and also from couple of suse forums, but by now I have no success You need install samba server in your SUSE 9.1 box. And run smbpasswd -a username in a shell to add the user indicated by username to access user list, also set the password. After these steps, you should be able to see the shares in SUSE box from windoz.
Good luck! Ben
I have already done that, samba server is running, the work-group is the same as the rest of the machines.... and still nothing. I also have to say that I use SuSe Firewall, maybe this is the problem, and if that is the problem what port I have to open to allow samba server to work ok ? You need enable trafic on port 139 by configuring the firewall . Or you just
try to disable the firewall. Good luck Ben

Run the Gnome control centre (here, it's at SUSE->Utilities->Desktop->Gnome control centre). You might like to pick a universal theme, such as Keramik in KDE and Geramik in Gnome so that you get the same look with both toolkits. Have a look at /etc/modprobe.conf and check the config You should have something similar to the following # YaST2 configured TV card # gZD2.bJ31E5obFa9:Bt878 alias char-major-81-0 bttv alias char-major-81-1 off alias char-major-81-2 off alias char-major-81-3 off options bttv card=37 gbuffers=4 pll=1 radio=1 tuner=5 From memory the "pll" option effects the sound, but also the "tuner" option may also be involved. Sorry I can't remember. Don't use my settings as it is for a different card and different TV standards. You can also edit these settings via YaST -->hardware --> tv card ---> change --> Edit ---> Expert Settings This option is better as it provides details on what the options are and possible values. Also have a look at tvtime it maybe a better option to kdetv http://tvtime.sourceforge.net/ the RPM is available here ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/hvogel/RPMs/ix86/9.1/i586/ -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
