[opensuse] KNetworkManager, Linksys wireless USB driver connection problems.
Hello. I am trying to get the my linksys wirless USB WUSB54G stick to work - which is supported according to http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/ Network_Adapters_(Wireless)#Ndiswrapper) to work on my newly upgraded opensuse 10.3. I have - Downloaded and installed the firmware file for the Linksys driver rt73usb 'cp rt73.bin into /lib/firmware' - Setup the wirless network using KNetworkManager by: Creating a new Wireless network device using the rt73usb module and WPA personal security with a string passphrase (that works with my apple computer) - Seen the knetworkmanager applet appear, find the network and attempt to connect and have a failure at this point - I am currently stuck in an infinite loop, with knetworkmanager saying "The connection could not be established. Please verify your settings and try again." I enter the appropriate passphrase and get the dialog again. Looking at the syslogs, I see: warn: - phy3 -> rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset 0x3040 with error -19. messages: it looks like I never get past Activation stage 2 of 5 from NetworkManager. It just continuously tries to authenticate, associate and RX ReassocResp without getting past. Any suggestions / more info needed or advice of where I should go next would be greatly appreciated. OpenSuse distro owners: Also, I believe it is a limitation of the distribution for not having already installed the rt73.bin into /lib/ firmware... doesn't seem like the sort of thing an average user should have to do. Are you trying to connect to an AirPort Base Station? If so then go here http://www.macwindows.com/airportpc.html and read "Getting the Passkey from the Mac". Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
