You have not provided much information :^( What apps? How are you trying to install them? What asks for root's password? "after that" means, what happens? usually root access is required to install packages, especially system wide packages. answer the questions above with *specifics*, details and probably we can help you -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Just asking: You are aware that the default in 11.0 is to use the password of
the "main user" (the one you create during installation) as the root
password?

So, during the install of 11.0 you no longer set a root password? Just an additional user and that password is root password? I have not yet installed 11.0, just checking here. -- Michael S. We always set a root password. If the checkbox in the User is marked, it is set to the same content as the users (but only this once, they are not connected), otherwise you are asked for a root password on a seperate screen.
