Until such a time comes that someone actually sits down and adds true Outlook- compatibility to a mail server, many many many companies will never replace their "beloved" Exchange server.
That has been done. I've never tried it, so I don't know how well it works, but it has received some good reviews. Go to www.bynari.net and check out the demo download for yourself. According to the marketing it will make any imap server into a full exchange replacement //Anders -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

I don't know the details of exchange server/client licence pricing since I'm not a microsoft customer, but from what I can read on the net, the Bynari licences are less than a third of what you'd have to pay if you stay with Microsoft, and you're not giving up functionality. That seems fairly competitive to me. //Anders

It looks like that's the other way around. Using korganizer to connect to an exchange server. The Bynari thing is a way to replace the exchange server, so it's a different market. I suspect it's easier to get companies to replace one exchange server than several hundred or thousand outlook clients (although I'm sure that will happen eventually. It's just a much bigger project) //Anders

The links has been mentioned in a discussion about groupware for kde. Please see http://dot.kde.org for the full discussion. The idea is there is to make a replacement for the server too, so a company can graduately(?) move to another solution. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
