Hi I am looking at purchasing a new laptop one that is Linux compatible I want a laptop. My main thing I am looking for is battery support I would like to get a laptop that that can run off of battery for at least 3-4 hours. I know HP has the nx5000 what comes with Suse 9.1 installed all ready. I am looking with a laptop with at least the following specs. If any one has some suggestions I would appreciate it. I am looking for a laptop that priced less than 1500 but if its a bit more then I would spend the extra money for a good laptop. 1.5 G or faster 40 G Hard Drive DVD burner And 15 inch display 64MB video card either ATI or NvidiaThank David

David, Take a look at this site. I have bought two notebooks from these folks and they were under $1500.00 with no OS! Linux on both have been well supported. http://www.mwave.com/mwave/ProdNOTEBOOK-MWAVE.hmx?updepts=NB&DNAME=Notebooks JD

I know everybody disses Asus for their anti linux stance, but I'm real happy with a M6N notebook I purchased from http://www.jncs.com back in February. They sell them without an os so no Micro$oft tax. -- Jim Barnes -- Certainly the game is rigged. Don't let that stop you; if you don't bet, you can't win. -Lazarus Long -- Linux 2.6.8-24.3-default
