[opensuse] Upgrade method
I'm hoping to do my first upgrade of a Suse system - from 10.2 to 10.3 - and I'm wondering what is the best or recommended method for doing this? I assume the 2 choices are: -Use Yast to upgrade the live system by changing the Installation Source -Boot from the install CD/DVD, run the install program and choose the Upgrade Existing System option (I guess it asks with something like that at some point?). Or is the recommended way to back up your system, install the new version & all your apps from scratch and then restore your data? The later - worked fine for me ;-) Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform/openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Cool, thanks for that. One more question - should I remove extra repositories like packman, KDE:/Backports, KDE4:/Playground etc before the upgrade, or should I just change them afterwards to the 10.3 versions? (Am I trying to make this more complicated that it really is? :-) ) Cheers, -- Ian gpg key: http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~imoore/no-spam.asc
