[SLE] wvdial changes modem device permissions?
Er .. its daft dproc here again with another 6.3 update problem ... I have wvdial from my 6.3 CD working beautifully in place of the old suseppp package. But each time I use it, it changes the permission of my modem device from 0660 (rw-rw----) to 0640 (rw-r-----) (Owner is root and group is uucp.) wvdial works once and is then unusable until I su and chmod 0660 /dev/ttyS2 again. This can't be right but I don't find a documented config to change. Any suggestions? dproc -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
It will continue to do that until you make sure you close it each time with Ctrl-C. Each time you use wvdial, it changes the ownership to root and then changes it back when properly closed (Ctrl-C). dproc@dol.net wrote:
