[SLE] 8.0 and hardware-accelerated 3D
Initial impressions of 8.0 are very favourable; everything installed without a hitch (no apparent kdeinit memory-munching), apart from one thing; 3Ddiag says that xf86_glx isn't installed (and /etc/sysconfig/3ddiag points to Mesa) - it suggests installing it from Yast2. Except that xf86_glx isn't anywhere on the CDs (not the ones I've got, anyway!) - and, since 8.0 is new, ftp.suse.com doesn't have anything that might be a suitably up-to-date version. I have a sneaking suspicion that "roll your own X" is pretty much all I can do here; but has anyone else had this little problem ? cheers, Gideon. (I'm running a Voodoo3 3000, FWIW - although that's really not relevant to this.)

It's a bug, and an xf86_glx package will be provided ASAP. -- Mads Martin Jørgensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. P. J.
