[opensuse] FYI: Kernel 2.6.31 and kernel panic when HAL daemon wants to start
FYI and the Google cache: I needed Kernel 2.6.31 and use a 32 Bit CPU that supports no frequency scaling, an Athlon XP. In this case the kernel panics when HAL daemon wants to start, you can only boot in runlevel one. To workaround this just give the boot option cpufreq=no to the kernel when booting. Hope this helps for people who need kernel 2.6.3x on openSUSE 11.1 and use a 32 Bit CPU. IS this the 2.6.31-9 kernel? That's known to be broken. If 2.6.31-10 fails the same way, please open a bugreport (see http://bugs.opensuse.org for details), Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

I had to check kernel-source, not kernel-pae, I usually build it on my own. It seems to be there: * Do Apr 23 2009 jeffm@suse.de - Temporarily disabled patches.suse/acpi-dsdt-initrd-v0.9a-2.6.25.patch Regards Malte -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
