Need help setting up a wireless network card under 9.0
Hello, This is a report - my apologies - but I did not get any response a few days ago. If anyone can give me any tips on setting up a wireless card I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. Repost shown below: I have installed SuSE 9.0 on a IBM ThinkPad R32. I'm trying to get the wireless network working. YaST does not detect it. It is a Cisco Aironet 305 MiniPCI chip with a PCI id of 14b9:a504 I have found several indication that this card is supported by linux: http://bellet.info/laptop/t40.html#wireless http://airo-linux.sourceforge.net/ Since YaST does not auto-detect it I am at a loss as to how to configure it. I tried manually selecting "others" and choosing the Aironet cards (which uses airo_cs) but that doesn't work, when I run rcnetwork restart I get wlan0: failed with no error messages about it in the logs that I can find. I've tried to follow SuSE's instructions but haven't gotten anywhere. http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/11/wavelan.html I can modprobe airo_cs (it doesn't give any errors) but that does not cause any more devices to show up in yast or iwconfig - not even if I put an alias in modules.conf Can anyone give me some advise? I just can't figure out where to go from here to get this working. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. JW

Hi JW, I'd guess you didn't get a response because the hardware combination you're dealing with is relatively obscure with respect to the overall install base. I've reviewed your links and have a question: Is this the network adapter you're fighting with?: "Cisco Aironet AIR-LMC350 PCMCIA wireless LAN card" regards, - Carl - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - C.
