Thanks for the tips. What is the problem with KDE? I'm running 2.2.1/2.
Keyboard switcher/kterm worked fine in KDE 1. It broke for me in KDE 2. Terminal did not display any Cyrillic characters, keyboard did not switch.
Is there a Cyrillic kit for KDE 2.2.1 or 2?
I don't know the answer.
I'm still not satisfied with Mutt to change yet, so it is quite important for me to get KDE to work if possible.
I can't tell anything about KDE as I don't use it. My needs are perferctly satisfied with WindowMaker, and the most used application is xterm ;-) (I am old-fashioned, I know) You'll probably need to play with font settings in particular KDE application. And CyrX is quite reliable in switching the keyboard. You may have more luck with KDE keyboard switcher than me, also. I just stopped any experimenting with KDE because my hardware is too slow for it (P-233 and AMD-500). Regards, -Kastus

~ likewise, i have not succeeded with Greek as 2nd language. Do you happen to know if Cyrx does handle Greek ? thanks best wishes ____________ sent on Linux ____________
I don't know about Russian, but in SuSE.8.0.Pro/KDE.3.0 the following instructions give a perfectly working environment with Greek as a 2nd lang. instructions were posted on suse-linux-e mailing list by giannis@enplo.gr at 03 May 2002. <steps> 1. First of all you have to install the package "xfgreek" from suse's cds. 2. Then under Yast2_Control_Center-> System-> RC_Config_Editor-> Base-Administration-> Localisation set up the following values rc_lang = el_GR rc_lc_all = el_GR root_uses_lang = yes 3. Restart. 4. Edit the file /etc/X11/XF86Config Section "InputDevice" Driver "keyboard" .................. .................. edit this line Option "XkbLayout" "gr" .................. .................. add the line Option "XkbOptions" "grp:alt_shift_toggle" EndSection 5. Then under Control_Center-> Personalization-> Country_&_Language set up the following values Country: Greece(gr) Language: Default(C) Charset: iso8859-7 Click on "Apply" button. 6. Restart. After that you have to use the iso8859-7 charset in every KDE app. </steps> tabanna wrote:
