[opensuse] vsftpd double login
I have a small but annoying problem with my vsftpd accounts. there are standard (unix) ones, not virtual when I try to login, I give logtin/passwd then first have a "oops child died" message, konqueror retry and then succeed and all works normally, but, for example, firefox don't retry and fail any idea? jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://clairedodin.voices.com/ http://www.clairedodin.com/ http://claire.dodin.net/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Did you try to see what happens if you use a normal FTP client (console, ftp localhost) and login? Anything interesting in the log files to be seen? Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

no problem, straight login

well.. I had to activate lgs on the server. this solved part of the problem (I can send the logs privately, it's not so long but too much for the list). seems that at the command ftp://claire.dodin.org the *client* (konq or firefox, but not ftp) send an anonymous query. then send "anonymous" as pass. but on the same time, konq or firefox ask me for passwd, but of course the dialog is unused and login fails (anonymous is *not* allowed) then there is a normal dialog and login is done this don't happen if I send the ftp guest_claire@claire.dodin.org complete command so the problem is than konq/firefox try on the same time to log as anonymous & ask for pass. how could I change this? I don't see any ftp option in firefox thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://clairedodin.voices.com/ http://www.clairedodin.com/ http://claire.dodin.net/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Try the plain, text console, ftp client to see if the problem is the client or the server. Then look up the logs, increase verbosity. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
