[opensuse] Tomcat5 on Suse 10.0
Hello, Just installed Tomcat5 from Yast and, I was curious, how can one tell if it is running as a stand alone or as Servlet/JSP container? After the Yast install, will Apache2 already know how to use it? Many thanks, James D. Parra Systems Administrator, IT Dept. Hello,

You have to start it from the system services. You may want to install the example apps as there is no default ROOT app with the rpm from SUSE. One you start it just hit the examples url http://localhost:8080/examples/ or something similiar.
After the Yast install, will Apache2 already know how to use it?
Nope you will have to install the apache module needed and configure it as well as configure Tomcat.
Many thanks,

If you want to use tomcat with apache you need to install the rpm apache2-mod_jk (10.2) or mod_jk-ap20 (prior versions).
