Hi all... I'm using 8.1 and I've got my burner working (more or less). But I've got to add "append="hdd=ide-scsi" to Grub. How do I do this? Go into your GRUB menu.lst file and add the parameter to your 'kernel' statement. A reasonable example: title linux kernel (hd0,0)/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3 apic hdc=ide-scsi vga=791 initrd (hd0,0)/initrd -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. Edit the file /boot/grub/menu.lst
add hdd=ide-scsi on the line kernel of the suse 8.1 entry.
Thanks
Don't forget to add ede-scsi in the initrd_modules and to run mkinitrd.
Strictly speaking, I think there are packages of the genre "cdrtools" that attempt to make cd burning an atapi event now. I have found that adding ide-cd and cdrom to /etc/sysconfig/kernel and doing a mkinitrd works best. If and only if I wishe to some burning do I do "insmod ide-scsi". When I am finished, I rmmod ide-scsi. I know this sounds confusing, but I cannot remember where I read about the availability of the cdrtools set--just a senior moment.
