[opensuse] Thread Breakers
Folks: Polite suggestion: If you notice that your replies to messages tend to break threads into multiple parts, might I suggest a different mail reader be used to handle list traffic? I realize this often happens with webmail packages that don't handle mailing list messages very well. I thought it was just me, but the archives also show broken threads. Not a big deal, just a suggestion. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I second John's suggestion. /Per -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I also agree but shouldn't this be added to: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mailing_list_netiquette And more of us *urging* those lax individuals to follow the "Mailing_list_netiquette", that it is *expected* here (and all openSUSE lists), Not Just A Suggestion!, but common courtesy. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Some of us may be behind corporate firewalls, and might only have webmail clients, which are notorious for this sort of thing. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Maybe we can find an alternative for those people. Maybe gmane or gmail. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE Leap 42.1 x86_64 (test)) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

But those come with the account. They are not a choice. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE Leap 42.1 x86_64 (test)) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That's true but its not what I meant. You're assuming @gmail => google's webmail. I'm not assuming @gmail, so I can point any webmail tool, ui I want at my mailbox. I may have to use a proxy if my mail is IMAP only :-( There are plenty of service providers out there who will sell a email only account and give IMAP+web access to it. IIR there's an IMAP interface to @gmail and once again a proxy or VPN can bypass that. http://www.howtogeek.com/167418/5-ways-to-bypass-internet-censorship-and-fil... http://www.networkworld.com/article/2601300/microsoft-subnet/bypassing-hardw... However there is an incredibly simple way that doens't need a webmail client USE YOUR PHONE! I have K-9 on my phone along with a PGP package. Some people might prefer K-@. USE YOUR PHONE!

Go google.
KDE kmail, tbird, evolution, etc all support imam and they all know how to set up a gmail or Yahoo account. These providers and their webmail interfaces aren't the thread breakers. It's usually some smaller isp's web mail package that is braindead. Some of those may have pop or imap access as well. But if you read opensuse lists at work, your employer may block such outgoing connections, or forbid installing your own email handler. Then you are stuck with a web interface to access your ISP account. (Ignoring for the moment that anyone posting on this list shouldn't be reduced to using the "webmail made me do it" excuse.) -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail.
