Synaptic Gone Wonky
I have a machine with SuSE 8.2 and the most recent synaptic from Richard Bos's suser 8.2 directory (which is not the very latest)... Synaptic appears to work totally fine in selecting packages to upgrade, delete, install, etc. It downloads the packages just fine, but when it goes to install/upgrade/remove them, it flashes for a moment, then returns to the screen where one can select packages to install/upgrade/remove. It doesn't complain about the lock file, and packages tagged for downloading have indeed been downloaded. (I've been installling them manually with rpm). Any ideas? Thanks! Hi Mark, what happens when you use apt from the command line? apt-get install <pkgs> or apt-get upgrade -- Richard

Hi Richard! apt-get install <whatever> works fine. I haven't had a need to run apt-get upgrade, so if you don't mind I don't think I'll try! ;-) Thanks!
