Okay, both files are attached. I first had my graphics card as nv, but then I got the new drivers off NVidia's site so now it is nvidia. All help will be appreciated.

Hmm, do you have a tv hooked up to this thing, because these are some lousy monitor specs. :) It doesn't leave much room for working resolutions, as you can see in your logfile.

This might be the real problem you're facing.
