Hi, We are trying to get pppd to work with callback on SuSE 8.2 I had this working a few years ago and I tried my scripts that I used at that stage, but it seems that pppd now works slightly different. This is the command that is used to make the initial call: /usr/sbin/pppd ttyS0 nodetach debug callback 9769368 user andre connect "/usr/sbin/chat -f ./chat_dialout" This is the contents of the chat script: --<snip>-- ABORT "NO CARRIER" ABORT "NO DIALTONE" ABORT "ERROR" ABORT "NO ANSWER" ABORT "BUSY" '' AT OK-\d\d+++\d\d\c-OK ATH0 OK ATD9121375 CONNECT CLIENT --<snip>-- The problem is that pppd dials and the authentication is fine and then it goes on and configure IP addresses and run /etc/ppp/ip-up and /etc/ppp/ip-down. Exactly the same as when you do a normal dialup that do not require callback. When I had this working before, pppd would exit with code 14 after the authentication was done. Googling only returns documents on how to set up a callback server or the age old dokuments that I used a few years ago. Anybody have any idea what I am missing? /usr/sbin/pppd ttyS0 nodetach debug callback 9769368 user andre connect "/usr/sbin/chat -f ./chat_dialout"
This is the contents of the chat script: --<snip>-- ABORT "NO CARRIER" ABORT "NO DIALTONE" ABORT "ERROR" ABORT "NO ANSWER" ABORT "BUSY" '' AT OK-\d\d+++\d\d\c-OK ATH0 OK ATD9121375 CONNECT CLIENT --<snip>--
The problem is that pppd dials and the authentication is fine and then it goes on and configure IP addresses and run /etc/ppp/ip-up and /etc/ppp/ip-down. Exactly the same as when you do a normal dialup that do not require callback.

Have you looked at man pppd for the callback options? You didn't mention any.

Sorry... gotta read between the lines... Ignore my last.
