Hi list, on the laptop I have at work (right now) running SuSE 9.0 Pro, I use a PS/2 mouse because it's better for me... Yesterday I was using the laptop during my way back home in the train and started to use the built-in mouse touchpad. I had to run sax2 for the system to configure the touchpad correctly, otherwise I had a loose pointer... Now, back in the office, I can't use the PS/2 mouse-wheel anymore... I started sax2 and activated the mouse-wheel twice but no way... Any thoughts?

Edit /etc/X11/XF86Config, section "InputDevice" for Driver "mouse" and make sure you have Option "ButtonNumber" "5" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" in it. Also check if you have multiple sections for Driver "mouse" and if so, which one is selected in section "ServerLayout"
Hi Anders, thanks for your quick reply. Anders Johansson wrote:

This is what I have: --- Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[1]" Option "AutoSoft" "on" Option "Device" "/dev/mouse" Option "InputFashion" "Mouse" Option "Name" "Auto;Generic" Option "Protocol" "Auto" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection --- No trace of Option "ButtonNumber" "5" So, I assume that it's as easy as appending that missing "Option ..." to my settings. Then, how do I apply changes? Appart of rebooting, that is... ;) One thing that makes me rise one eyebrow is: --- Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Layout[all]" InputDevice "Keyboard[0]" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "Mouse[1]" "CorePointer" Option "Clone" "off" Option "Xinerama" "off" Screen "Screen[0]" EndSection --- As you can see, I have a Keyboard[0], a Screen[0] but a Mouse[1]... TIA, Martin

Just log out and log back in. That will restart X and reread the options

It's not really important. What is important is that it matches the Identifier in the InputDevice section. the '1' is probably just YaST doing something unknown internally
