[opensuse] how to always assign certain specific ip address to connecting pptp client?
salam, pptpd (poptop pptp) works fine here. i have a lan, clients connect (win2k, winxp, ...) fine, receive their lan-side ip addresse for the pptp vpn interface. so far so good. i would like to assign a certain user always the same (or at least virtually a static never chaning) ip address from the lan-side ip pool. the ip pool is being set in /etc/pptpd.conf with remoteip 10.x.y.z for example. now user-x needs to get a 10.x.y.1 and user-x2 needs to get 10.x.y.2 for example. but no matter when or in what order or how they connect to the pptpd selecting the various ip addresses via the vpn clients transmitted user-name would be ok for me. i havent found any settings that would allow such a configurations o far. maybe it needs to be set in /etc/ppp/options.pptp any hints on how to achieve this feat? thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

solved: its actually in /etc/ppp/chap-secrets the "IP addresses" parameter (last column on each line, see doc in file) is the one to set to the wanted ip address for the tunnel interface. so one line would look like: myusername1 pptpd secretpassword1 10.23.6.66 myusername2 pptpd secretpassword2 10.6.66.23 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
