Anyone out there know of where a person might find galeon 1.0 rpms built for SuSE instead of Redhat? The galeon rpms at sourceforge won't install, griping about gconf and some other stuff like mozilla, even if they are installed already. TIA, Monte
I can probably have some up tomorrow. I don't have time tonight. Arthur H. Johnson II arthur@linuxbox.nu The Linux Box http://www.linuxbox.nu On Wed, 28 Nov 2001, Monte Milanuk wrote:

This may not be a popular suggestion, but build it yourself - Galeon is possibly the easiest thing in the world to build, and it doesn't even take very long... All you need to know is the correct configure options to make sure it can find Mozilla and install Gnome (especially OAF and GConf) stuff in the right place on a SuSE system... And those options are: ./configure --prefix=/opt/gnome --sysconfdir=/etc/opt/gnome \ --with-mozilla-libs=/opt/mozilla \ --with-mozilla-includes=/opt/mozilla/include \ --with-nspr-includes=/opt/mozilla/include/nspr \ --with-mozilla-home=/opt/mozilla --with-libiconv-prefix=/opt/gnome This will work if you're using the SuSE RPMs for Mozilla (including mozilla-devel of course)

I installed the mozilla 0.9.6 and galeon 1.0 Red Hat rpms and it worked for me. Although I am having functional problems with Galeon. Like, it's not saving my config settings and sites like slashdot & freshmeat look like crap.

The config issue could well be as a result of Red Hat's GNOME config stuff being stored in a different place to SuSE's Have a look under /usr/share/oaf - if there's things in there that mention Galeon, they should be moved to /opt/gnome/share/oaf Also look under /etc/gconf for directories named galeon [ find . -type d -name galeon -exec ls -ld {} \; in that directory will do this for you ] These will need moving to /etc/opt/gnome/gconf/whatever_other_subdirectories
