List,
After Anders posted the links to the opera generic rpm, I thought I would give it a try. To my AMAZEMENT Java/Javascript worked like a charm in the opera.com package, but was broken completely in the openSuSE update package.
The opera.com package was:
opera-10.00.gcc4.qt4.x86_64.rpm
The openSuSE Update package was:
opera-10.00-6.1.x86_64.rpm
Investigating further, I checked the java settings in the opera.com package and the java path for Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Content -> Java Options was:
/usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0/jre/lib/amd64
Curious, I reinstalled the openSuSE package and check the same Java Option and it was the SAME!!
What Gives?? Why does java in the opera.com package work and the opensuse package fail??

Not necessarily. I believe Opera is looking for libjvm.so in /usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0/jre/lib/amd64 but it is instead in the sub directory /server. A simple link will make java function properly. Perhaps this has been corrected in the genuine version. /Ulf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I submitted it to opera.com some time ago, so it's on their side. MV

I think you are probably write. I know it is just a simple link issue, but the suse version has been like this for at least a year and a half. You can search the archives for "rankin opera" and see I've brought it up 2-3 times before. That's why I was amazed when I tried the opera version and java worked on my weather page. I'll pick around with the suse version when I have time. Thanks again. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
