Yes the drivers are doing it, because you ignored the major waring that they were compiled with an old version of gcc. Now you know why they warned you!
Thanks, Paul. Well, i found this site linked from a sourceforge project; and their documentation led me to force this module if i get a warning about gcc. If it caused my problems, i guess they mustn't lead people do that.
Linux doesn't hesitate to trow away backward binary compatibly because you have the source code and can just recompile, except for .... binary only drivers. A thing to watch out for next time you get hardware.
Well, i'd be happy if i could. Sorry to say, but things here in Turkey are not as it used to be in EU. I searched a lot to buy a laptop, from a firm which gives linux support. Togan will know, even a firm which ships laptops with Linux, didn't give support. They only choose Linux to make their items cheaper. They're very surprised to learn about me using Linux. Anyway, i thank you again..
Sorry,
Me too :-(
It is not all that much better here in the USA. If you are up for it, the kernel recompile option using an earlier version of gcc isn't really that hard. Of course you loose any support from SuSE on kernel problems then. Just make sure that you have a boot floppies (it takes more than one now) of the working kernel and that you don't uninstall your old kernel until you have the new version working. You also need to make sure that you give the kernel you recompile a new version name when you configure it so that it doesn't overwrite the gcc 3 modules with gcc 2 version (that would be a major mistake). pben On Friday 04 July 2003 03:52 pm, oguzeren wrote:
