Does anyone have any comments / suggestions on SuSE 7.2 install on an IBM Thinkpad T20 laptop. My biggest issue so far is with sound. Yast2 recognizes and installs the onboard sound correctly, but it is not clear and crackles most of the time. Any suggestions on using both and external monitor some of the time and the onboard lcd other times at different resolutions/refresh rates? Right now, when I boot it up, i have set up two /etc/X11/XF86Config files, and I switch between them. It works, but I am looking for a more elegant solution. I had the same experience with SuSE7.2 on my ThinkPad A20m. The problem was fixed by a small modification to /etc/modules.conf If your TP uses the Crystal Sound cs461x chip, make sure the relevant line in your /etc/modules.conf file reads as follows: options snd-card-cs461x snd_id=card1 snd_index=0 snd_thinkpad=1 With that thinkpad=1 in there, sound works like champ on my TP.
