Hi all, I have recently switched from name-based to IP-based virtual hosting. My webserver has the eth0 IP 192.168.1.254 , server.adventus.cxm For name based hosting I had created CNAME entries for www, test , hpro etc Now I've added 4 IP aliases to eth0.. 192.168.1.253, 192.168.1.252 etc I want the new servers to be called hostpro, testing, database and future. Do I need to add IN PTR and IN A entries for each of the 4 IPs in my named.192.168.1 and named.adventus respectively ? I've tested my new setup with raw IP addresses.. works OK... Yes, assuming you want to refer to your servers by name (hostpro.adventus.cxm, etc.) you will need to add the appropriate entries to your DNS. It would probably be a good idea to take the CNAME entries like hpro and test out when you do this, otherwise things could get confusing.
