Hello, I have 3 hard drives and one dvd-rw installed in my machine, I just added the third drive with win2k. Configuration: Primary IDE Master => /dev/hda => GRUB hd0 -- 160 Gb Seagate Primary IDE Slave => /dev/hdb => GRUB hd1 -- 160 Gb Western Digital Secondary IDE Master => /dev/hdc => GRUB hd2 ( I thought ) -- 20 Gb Seagate Secondary IDE Slave => /dev/hdd => GRUB hd3 -- Maddog DVD-RW If I unplug both drives from the Primary IDE controller then the win2k drive will boot and I see the 20 GB and the Maddog. If I use grub from the MBR of /dev/hda then it boots the grub loader and I can boot opensuse 10.1 with no problem, if I try the selection for Win2K then it gives me an error saying invalid device. GRUB menu.lst from /boot/grub of /dev/hda # Modified by YaST2. IIANM, Windows can only boot if it believes it is installed on the first hard drive in the system. check out http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/html_node/DOS_002fWindows.html#DOS_0... for details
Thanks in advance!

title Win2K chainloader (hd2,0)+1 Try this:
title Win2K map (hd0) (hd2) map (hd2) (hd0) rootnoverify (hd0,0) makeactive chainloader (hd0,0)+1 Some of that may well be redundant, but it will fool Win2K into believing it is booting off the first drive.

Try this:
title Win2K map (hd0) (hd2) map (hd2) (hd0) rootnoverify (hd0,0) makeactive chainloader (hd0,0)+1
Some of that may well be redundant, but it will fool Win2K into believing it is booting off the first drive.
The OP informs me privately that my suggestion causes a Grub 1.5 read error, after which a soft reboot is necessary. He changed the section to: title Win2K root (hd2,0) map (hd0) (hd2) map (hd2) (hd0) savedefault makeactive chainloader +1 and now Win does boot again.
