What are the best/your favourite tools for recording videos off the desktop, e.g. for tutorials and such? I've googled and seen xvidcap, recordmydesktop and ffmpeg mentioned. xvidcap appears to be pretty ancient (and also didn't work), I couldn't find recordmydesktop for opensuse and whilst ffmpeg did work, it wasn't exactly straight forward getting a useful result. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (15.9°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I use RecordMyDesktop. It works very well... video and audio capture works - note there is (was?) a bug in RMD and openSUSE that caused it to record at a low frame rate... I'd have to look up the solution again (a configuration tweak for RMD) if you are interested. It's available for openSUSE... http://software.opensuse.org/package/recordmydesktop http://software.opensuse.org/package/qt-recordmydesktop http://software.opensuse.org/package/gtk-recordMyDesktop (note: some are private repos, but the saigkill ones are pretty reliable) C. -- openSUSE 12.1 x86_64, KDE 4.8.2 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Ah, that's why I couldn't find it - I only checked 12.1 and packman. I was surprised not to find it at packman. Thanks. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (15.8°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

In GNOME3 it is just Ctrl-Alt-Shift-R, toggles recording the desktop on and off. Then edit in your favorite editor - something like OpenShot. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
