[opensuse] rsync mirrors for Suse updates
Hi, I've got a few dozen developers running Suse 10.0/10.1 mixes and I would like to do an rsync of the updates to save bandwidth (so they update from our server). I've had this running for quite a while doing a rsync -v -a --delete --delete-after suse.uni-leipzig.de::suse-i386/update However, this is now refusing connections. Is there a better server (or list of servers I can use for this?). Regards, Ian Collins. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

See http://en.opensuse.org/Mirrors_Development_Build. I don't use rsync at all, but from what I can discern from the man page plus the opensuse website, perhaps you don't really need that "::" syntax. Just a guess. Leipzig does respond to rsync, but it seems very slow -- perhaps it is just very busy. -- The best way to accelerate a computer running Windows is at 9.81 m/s² -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi Ian, i was allways fine with rsync -avz -L --delete-after ftp.tu-chemnitz.de::ftp/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/update/10.1 Greets Michael -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
I have several I've been using successfully from the San Francisco Bay
Area in California, USA:
rsync://mirrors.kernel.org/mirrors/suse/update
- Very fast, local to SF Bay Area. Sometimes lags several hours behind
ftp.suse.com.
rsync://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/update
- Most up-to-date AFAICT. In Germany. Often slow, but can be very fast.
rsync://ftp-1.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/update
- Generally up-to-date AFAICT. In Germany. Alternate to ftp.gwdg.de.
Hope this helps!
Phil
