I don't know about the rest of you but my guts twisted up when I read this. It just wreaks of pay offs. Diane -----Original Message----- From: Fred A. I don't think payoffs are really part of the story, but certainly strong political forces are. Bush has always stated that the Microsoft anti-trust case is over blown by the US AG office. Now that you have some very conservative Republicans in office, it makes sense that the US AG's office would back off. Besides, heavy contributions to your favorite party has always been a sanctioned form of payoff... ;-) -ronc On Tuesday 12 June 2001 07:40, you wrote:

I suspect that the whole Anti-Trust trial was about payoffs from the very beginning. How many times have we all heard that Microsoft didn't spend enough time lobbying for technology on capital (pun intended ;^) hill? It was all about money from the very beginning, imho. Nothing has changed -- Microsoft is still using their monopoly on the desktop as leverage to forge monopolies in other markets. It started with the browser and is continuing with their efforts to control and dominate digital distribution of copyrighted media. I'm really hoping that this all backfires on them though, as GNU/Linux becomes more viable as a desktop operating system, and doesn't impose any single corporation's vendetta on its users. Have a great day! -Steven
Hi, I have a desktop with inetd running, if I boot it FTP doesn't start, if I restart inetd it does. Inetd does start automatically but doesn't start this service. Any help would be apreciated. Cheers Matt
Hi,
the "inetd" daemon, lauches apps such as FTP. If you find that you require
the use of the FTP program, then you must launch this at bootup, or put the
following in your "/sbin.init.d/boot.local" at the bottom.....
/usr/sbin/inetd &

Cheers, I thought Yast2 was supposed to take care of this running automatically. matt On Tuesday 12 June 2001 12:57, n6tadam wrote:
