Well, if Mr. Wiegand indeed said what is attributed to him, it is going to
generate a lot waves in the next couple of days. It almost sounds like it
is coming from the MS propaganda machine.

Volker's words were very twisted in this article. Some of the
information here was not even discussed by Volker and this woman
doing the interview. I hope no one would believe that article was
even close to accurate. :-(

That's what I thought. It is very important for SuSE to clear the air
regarding this article because I bet MS is going to make a big issue out of
it in their attempt to prove that Linux is just a fad. They already
started the attack on Linux on all fronts.
I wish SuSE and all the laid off employees best of luck. We all need you
to do well!

I thought it was pretty odd too. SuSE really needs to clear this up.
ASAP. It's terrible marketing. First the PR blunder, now this
misrepresentation.

They will need to clear this up. Now all the id10t's on Slashdot will see it (and then M$) really not good for SuSE, nor the Linux community. Redhat closes one office (completely I might add) and hardly a whimper really arrises, SuSE cuts back an office (which can happen even during fat times) then all hell breaks lose. Didn't I see a mention of a call-center? I really want to get back to technical stuff (and a cup of tea and food) but I do not not want to see ammunition that can be used against Linux in generl, or SuSE. Well, the Slashdot community has never been kind to SuSE. Yes, Yast and Yast2 should be GPL'ed but, although I don't have any real figures to back this up, no company (including Redhat and VA) has a higher proportion of it's employees doing free software development. They don't understand that when you buy Redhat, Mandrake or Turbo your money is going to pay for marketing and similar crap (Turbo throws dollar bills out from their tradeshow booth fro christ's sake! Why not donate the money to the FSF?)--when you buy SuSE your money goes back into development. We never had inflated salaries, huge marketing budgets, or expensive parties like the others do b/c of this--perhaps this is the reason the Slashdoters never liked us? -- -ckm
No kidding about Slash being unkind, and in fact I even replied three times to someone's lies (he got a score of four on points that were not even correct) yet my rebuffs never got posted. So much for them being open and free and into democracy and all that. I am lucky where I am working, so I get to know which are the real best liked distro's amongst Linux professionals, can I say Debian and SuSE? RH is too broken, although a couple I know somehow look past its bad parts.... Good luck to everyone who is going to pastures new. Hopefully soon enough you'll move onto a greater dream. Yes, Slashdoter's are mostly Red Hat or Debian folks. They have trashed me several times for standing up and saying I like SuSE. No matter, SuSE stands on it's own merits and that is why users like it. Best Regards to all SuSE employees and users, /Dee
Well, judging by the quality of many of the posts on /. one can conclude that they aren't the brightest bulbs in the box. That's why I prefer LinuxToday. JLK On Wednesday 07 February 2001 22:12, Christopher Mahmood wrote:

Why not down load the distro and burn the cds here. Air shipping is VERRY expensive. Just air mail a master and press the rest here.

It is STILL less expensive then producing in Germany. Why can't you just - believe me, or - do some research on the costs, or - (forgot was the third option was) but pls. stop this. Repeating it again and again doesn't make it true.
Hey hey , I posted before getting the message detialing that it was chaeper in europe , so on that I now stand corrected , and will no longer press on htat particular issue. <grin> At 06:35 PM 2/8/2001 -0800, Michael Hasenstein wrote:

Michael, The better thing on your part would be to stop responding to these so called allegations completely. Just shut up and this thing will go away in no time. -- Nadeem Hasan nhasan@nadmm.com http://www.nadmm.com/ Michael Hasenstein wrote:
