Hi, I have seen lots of emails that contain things like "Running Linux xxxxx vxxx" and uptime info in the signitures. This is obviously automated somehow. Any idea how this is done, and is it possible to do it in KMail? Cheers Phil

Yes, this is (in kmail): settings - configuration - identity - use a signature from file Signature file: .signature Then edit or create the file .signature (in your $home) and write in there what you like. Since Netscape Messenger uses .signature by default you have them synchronized no matter which Mail Client you are using right now Cheers ... Thanks, just what I was looking for (as you can tell by my poor first attempt below). Does anyone know hoe to get the SuSE version number (e.g. 7.2)? Cheers Phil -- Linux 2.4.4-4GB 12:30am up 1 day, 1:25, 1 user, load average: 0.98, 0.68, 0.63
I noticed that CompUSA has Suse 7.2 on the shelves now. They don't have the upgrade package though. The version number is included in /etc/SuSE-release and can be extracted with the following line: grep VERSION /etc/SuSE-release | cut -f3 -d " " Bye, LenZ -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH mailto:grimmer@suse.de Schanzaeckerstr. 10 http://www.suse.de/~grimmer/ 90443 Nuernberg, Germany Red, white, and blue. Bye, LenZ
I created a .signature file in my home directory and wrote the following text in it: -- Yours sincerely, Ziga Dolhar --------------------------------------------- using grep VERSION /etc/SuSE-release | cut -f3 -d " " I also configured kmail (kde 2.2beta1) to automaticaly attach it to emails, but it doesn't "get" the version number. It simply puts the .signature as it is written... What should I do? btw, where can I get more extraction commands? TIA, Ziga Dolhar
